Construction Accountant

Preference Employment Solutions is looking for a Construction Accountant to join a growing local business. Location: Wahpeton, ND
Type of Position: Direct Hire, Full Time
Compensation: $60k-$70k/year, DOE

Position Overview: 
  • Responsible for the cash management and oversight of each development and renovation project and related entity, including payments to contractors and professionals, processing of wires, transfers, as well as the collection of fees, loan disbursements and equity contributions.
  • Perform data entry and review of monthly project invoices, tracking overall development and renovation draw status.
  • Ensure all invoices and pay applications are accrued properly and timely to the correct cost reports and phase codes.
  • Prepare monthly and periodic development project funding requisition packages for submission to lenders and investors in accordance with their respective loan and ownership agreements.
  • Execute supplier payment runs and subcontractor draw payment runs for each project.
  • Track compliance items, as well as insurance and W-9’s for development and renovation projects.
  • Reconcile vendor statements, inquiries, and inconsistencies.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and research all outstanding stale checks, invoice related issues, and discrepancies.
  • Responsible for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close and financial reporting.
  • Maintain internal control safeguards and assist in any external audit requests as needed.




Characteristics of a Successful Candidate:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business
  • At least 3 years of experience in construction accounting
  • Cobra accounting suite experience preferred
  • Outstanding communication and organizational skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Adept with MS Office suite
